L and I are new Paleo People. We like to go out for breakfast, lunch and dinner more than occasionally. We have been doing the "Whole 30" and are managing quite nicely, thank you very much. We have just completed Day 19 and are feeling comfortable with what we can and can't consume. We have been out for a couple of breakky's and they are pretty easy as long as you stay away from creamy sauces and the bread they try and pile on your plate.
When we go out we get a breakky burger and get rid of the bread. This is not ideal but we have been surprised how many cafe's have most or all choices including some kind of grain, legume or dairy product.
For example we went to a suburban "cool" cafe' today after a session of stand up paddling, famished, body tired and yelling out for food to find the menu contained not a single item that we could order without modifying. We just left that one in search for some more Paleo friendly establishment.
This is what this blog is about. It won't be a daily and probably not a weekly blog but it will be regular as we like to go out and enjoy some people watching over some sparking water (until the 30 days is up) and a good Paleo feed.
I will endeavour to share our experiences of Paleo friendly eateries around Perth. My hope is this blog serves as a guide for other newbie Paleo's.
Good eating to you all
So happy tou are writing about this. Dismal pickings mostly- but I don't eat out all that much. I was in the city yesterday and researched wholefood options before I went. I came across "The Magic Apple" which was close to where the conference was being held. I went there for lunch and was so disappointed- there were a few salads- but all with dressings and heaps of sandwiches :( The best place I have found so far is BOHO Espresso in Scarborough. Here I ate pork belly and kimchi for lunch. Their menu is very paleoish and they don't mind modifying. It is a little pricey though. Keep us posted! Love the blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. We are really getting stuck into the Whole 30 lifestyle. Feeling great and looking at this long term even to the point of looking for places that are paleo friendly overseas for holidays.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I have looked on a number of sites and found little information for the paloe crowd in Perth. Why oh why do "health" stores not accommodate our diet. I have had times at work where we have catered lunches and they are ALL on BREAD. I am now used to picking off the bits I want and leaving the bread or pastry case as you saw the other night.
Thanks for the comments and L and I are going to give BOHO a go so I can review it too.
CNR Kitchen at Northbridge now offer Paleo menu items. Their raw nachos is amazing!

Thanks Anon. Always good to hear of new places to eat. Will have to give it a go :)
DeleteTry the Mongolian restaurant in Leederville. You can add the foods you like and ignore the foods you don't when loading your plate up, so can be 100% paleo. And it's affordable.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Thanks for the tip. Don't you sleep?
DeleteNew to Paleo too and been really struggling to find Paleo lunches whilst in the city on business. Thanks for the tips. I'll check out CNR kitchen today.
